Biden advocates for women to have the right to determine their own healthcare.

I get so sick and tired of hearing the right wing zealots calling it pro-abortion when it's not, it's pro-choice.

It is a safe and simple procedure. If a women wants to terminate a pregnancy, abortion is an excellent choice. In fact it is pretty much the only choice. I'm a huge fan of safe and effective medical procedures.

I'm pro-contraception too, but failing that, if ANYONE is in a situation where they are not ready, willing, or able to bear a child, I'm pro-abortion.

I can't have kids, I adopted the only child I have, and I'm open to adopting another, but if ANY person who is pregnant is not willing to carry to term for ANY reason, I support readily available and accessible abortion.

Advocate for women controlling their own bodies, NOT OK.

What a fucked up institution.

But you get a retirement, legal defense, and if necessary travel expenses to escape prosecution.

A friend was refused communion because one of the ladies in the church saw her name on a volunteer list for Planned Parenthood. I went home that day and told my parents I was finished with the church. It did not go over well, but I honestly did not care.

Seems simple. I've always wondered why people say, "I don't like what my organization stands for. I know, instead of leaving it and find one I do like--or maybe starting my own--I'll try to make sure it abides by my values and those that joined it because they agree with it can leave. Hey, I get all the assets if I win! Cool! Ain't I just speerichul?"

Seems simple. Forthright and honest versus arrogant and grasping. But I seem to be in the minority. Many like to be preachers and try to reform others.

Note that I don't agree with the Catholic Church's teaching on many things and see no reason to join it.

people may use the philosophy toward evil ends, but in and of themselves, religions are just religions. (And yes, many people do utilize religious beliefs for bad/evil ends. That's undeniable. this is a semantics argument.)

Anyhow, back to communion.

I don't know how this priest could have made the decision to do this. I think it's BS. (I'm a practicing RC, so I have bread in this fight. Pun intended.) That the priest made this decision and then went to the press about it.... UGH. I'd be so pissed if I were his parishioner.

It keeps humanity from the truth by offering up a fantasy world populated by mythical beings. It dismisses science by manufacturing their own reasons for the way things are. But worst of all, it creates an Us vs Them mentality that leads to wars. Yes, there are other causes for war, such as oil or land, but do we need to make up reasons?

Which while technically accurate conveniently ignores the fact that guns make killing people much more efficient.

So it is with organized religion. When someone is able to convince others they know what a conveniently unverifiable higher power is demanding of them, using that influence for nefarious purposes becomes much more efficient.

David Koresh and Warren Jeffs were able to convince their followers to bring their children to them so they could be raped with the full knowledge and consent from those followers. These are just two notable examples of things that happen every day hundreds of times all over the world. There is no philosophy which can be used in this way. This isn’t a matter of simply semantics.

Thinking is better than assuming, generally. This is why the RCC is becoming more and more irrelevant all the time.
