I don't approve of it, but I can sort of explain the fundie mindset, if I can call it that.

We've had only one previous big epidemic in the lives of people living today, and that was HIV/AIDS. At first, the fundies thought it was some sort of divine retribution for being gay, and when heterosexual people started getting it, then it morphed into it being because of promiscuity. "Sin" is the only way they have of making sense of how bad shit happens, because they cannot wrap their tiny brains around the idea that there is no invisible skyfather miraculously in control of everything.

The rest of illnesses are caused by the sins of your great-great-grandfather, visited upon the third and fourth generations.

But I am sort of surprised there are enough dipshits to constitute an audience.

Or believing that a malaria drug or plasma transfusion, because each achieves the same results as doing nothing, has to be better than ... doing nothing.
