I've been cutting my husband's hair for a year and a half, and I need some lessons.

(1,000 posts)Loggins and Messina rocked, so much easier for Messina than putting up with that asshat Richie Furray. Plus "A Love Song" is the sweetest ever, damn, is nothing sacred?

(103 posts)How does mocking an image of Jesus make any kind of statement about a segment of people who claim to know him?
I get that this image is one promoted by that group of people, so how about challenging the people instead of the one (as I believe) gave his life to wake them up? I get it that free expression is a part of this community, and, I also know there are limits to that exoression on this site. Im part of this community too and this post is disheartening. Why address ignorance with ignorance?

Or any of the comments here.
If you don't think mocking this image, who somebody who claims to "know him" created is damn funny, I can't explain it to you.

(103 posts)Lets just assume you know who you are talking about, and who you are talking to.
I get that you see some sort of make God in your own white image, to the exclusion of everyone else
which, for a segment of people, is a dynamic of their racism, and yet that is a generalization. This image fits for me as do many other images.
Ive spent the larger part of my life
trying to broaden peoples perspective.
Obviously the image you posted struck a chord with you. So what image works for you? How do you know him? Without knowing these things, it just looks divisive.
You may or may not know that Jesus entire ministry revolved around helping people to know God.
He was no stranger to being mocked. In fact, He was rejected, mocked and murdered for the image he projected. The problem I have with your post is that nothing has changed since his death.

(34,652 posts)though I have no problem with mocking religion.
I am mocking the use of a Movie Star type image for a man who lived in the Middle East 2000 years ago.
Yes it makes Jesus more palatable to a lot of racist Christians who can't bare that Yeshua probably looked like this.
