'Choose the lesser evil' in US election, says Pope as Catholic leader criticises Kamala Harris and Donald Trump

Pope Francis made the remarks after a 12-day international tour and said both US presidential hopefuls have policies that are "against life".

The Pope has told American Catholics to "choose the lesser evil" as he criticised both Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.

Pope Francis launched the surprise intervention in the US election on his flight from Singapore to Rome on Friday.

He was critical of vice president Harris over her stance supporting abortion rights, claiming the procedure is an "assassination", and said that Mr Trump's plan to deport millions of immigrants was a "grave" sin.

Then, he called on American Catholics to "choose the lesser evil" when they headed to the polls in November.

He did not elaborate further.

How ignorant and judgmental. How arrogant to insist his religious views surpass medical advancements. How intolerant to judge others with such certainty. And how irresponsible to equate narcissistic, compulsive lying, top secret file stealing Gump to Kamala

I attended Catholic Grade School and High School.
I walked away in my early 20's because it didn't fulfill my spiritual needs.
There was way too much emphasis on fear, guilt, and punishment.
The Pope has no more business sticking his nose into secular affairs as secular governments have in sticking their nose into religious affairs.
As Jesus said, "Render unto Cesar the things that are Cesar's, and unto God the things that are God's".
I don't see abortion, as defined by Roe v Wade, as a sin, anymore than I see homosexuality as a sin. As Genesis says, God breaths spiritual life into the nostrils of a baby; something that can't be done unless the baby can breath. And, I see God as acknowledging love as love with no consideration of sex at all.
But there will always be men who are anxious to put their words in the mouth of God.

not great, but the "lesser of two evils."

(I found that a bit loony--restricting immigration is worse than killing, if only by a small amount? Uh ... I don't think that's what Francis meant--on the other hand, he didn't actually state an opinion, just a "I don't like either one" comment.)
