Bishop Stowe addresses Christian Nationalism

Addressing the Kentucky Council of Churches, Bishop Stowe gave a 40 minute address that among other things called Christian Nationalism the “oxymoron of oxymorons.”

He spent about 15 minutes addressing Project 2025, noting how it meshes with Christian Nationalism. The article contains a Facebook link to a video of the entire speech. It was well done and worth watching if you have the time. The following is from the National Catholic Reporter article covering his address

Stowe said he was "concerned" that the Catholic Church and other churches do not seem to be taking the threat of Christian nationalism seriously.

"I belong to a church that does not engage in partisan politics. In this election, as in others, that involves a lot of tiptoeing and a lot of walking on eggshells," he said.

But Stowe said he would not be walking on eggshells in this speech, "because only one political party in the United States has put forth a candidate who endorses, embraces and spouts the language of Christian nationalism."

The institutional Catholic Church is as you describe. However, some individuals, such a Bishop Stowe are calling out that institution and trying to reclaim a nonpartisan role.
