About that heart valve surgery...

Hello everyone. I wanted to drop a quick line to let you all know that I am alright. The surgery did not happen. I was told that the insurance would not cover it when I showed up for the 6:00am check-in for the procedure. I'm not going to say much more about this until I have more information. Needless to say, I am quite disappointed. Thank you all for your prayers and support.

This is very upsetting. The hospital did not pre-authorize the procedure? That is inexcusable. I’m so sorry that you went through all you did only to be turned away. This is grounds for a state insurance commission complaint, imho. When you’re feeling up to it. You must be emotionally exhausted.

The appeal process to my insurance company has been initiated. Right now it's a peer to peer review between my cardiac doctors and the insurance doctors. This has been an emotionally draining few days. I am now looking forward to a weekend without phone calls to or from bureaucracies.
