Call bank IMMEDIATELY, STOP PAYMENT on checks in the account. Should be done immediately, and if done, bank must honor request.

We did not figure out what happened until late in the evening. We will take the appropriate steps first thing in the morning. I hope it is not too late to stop a lot of damage.

it will obvious to the bank which checks are forged, so I would think your money will be intact.

(The bank will probably want you to change checking account numbers, which may prove to be an inconvenience.)
