I do not even like to venture into GD because of the negativity there. My haunts are mostly at ASAH and Ancient Wisdom.
As an activist for the low income, the hatred for the poor on DU is painful to see. However it is my calling to try to keep educating folks about the Institution of Poverty and sometimes I have to brave the snide remarks, etc. I will say that in postings about poverty, there are far more sympathizers than there used to be on DU, so this helps and gives me hope. IMO it is no big surprise why the greatest sages took the road of poverty in order to increase their own enlightenment. It is in the conditions of poverty that one gains a better understanding of humanity because the masses in poverty are forced to unmask their intentions as their often desperate needs makes it impossible to hide them as the upper classes can do.
I also am aware that this hatred for the poor is not even known by most of the posters who think they are "helping" when in fact it is not that at all. I feel there is a terrible fear they may end up in poverty because of the instability of many of them. So they prefer to criticize the person rather than the Institution of poverty or they would have to admit they participate in this Institution and that they benefit off the backs of the poor in order to keep their own place in society. So they have a hard time with with admitting their part in it. It is all fear based and something to pity IMO. I always ask the Universe to guide me in my anger at these times. As I often say to people I train to lobby over social justice issues: "Most Republicans openly hate the poor, most Democrats only pretend they DON'T hate the poor ..." lol.
But I also see this same kind of lack of acceptance for those who are "gifted" (many of us would say it is a curse), and the ridicule mixed with fascination for an ability can be as intense and hard to take. I am not psychic per se, my "gift" is as an empath but sometimes the superstition, even within my own family who have known me since birth, are afraid of it. It is beyond my ability to stop it, I sometimes take on their symptoms of pain and so they try to just keep that from me because they are horrified I feel what they feel ~ and sometimes they are even angry at me, because whether they tell me or not, I have felt an "echo" of what they feel. I am not sure I understand it since I cannot help it, but it has helped me in my work with poverty because I see first hand the fascinations and rejection that is a kind of ...fear. It is much the same with both things.

Hang in there Fire and all, it is important to subtly ply our quiet power of love and in order to do it, we can flee to ASAH for sanction and regeration, lol. Just as a FYI FWWM your love is the most important thing that you add here on ASAH. I often read your posts for healing and whether or not that is "psychic" matters not to me. What matters to me is they are insightful, nonjudgmental, truthful and heartfelt and that heals my own troubled soul. For that I thank you from the bottom of my heart!
