Observations by von Pragh on LI Medium

Was listening to a C2C show the other day and von Pragh commented on Theresa Caputo, the LI Medium. Here's what he said (he was speaking in general of TV shows about the paranormal):

They represent the paranormal in ways that are not the way it is. Example is ghosts are not scary but they like to make it scary.

Then he went on to discuss LI Medium. He acknowledged that she is very gifted but he said that it is not possible for her to walk into a store, for example, and see the spirits of others off the cuff, the way the show represents it. He said she must have to sit in her car or something like that to get herself into the state where she can see those who have crossed over. In other words, go into a meditative state before she goes into the store.

Said he thought this was not a good thing--that it did not represent the way it really is for those who can see those who have crossed over.

He also said that people are kind of surprised when they meet him and he cannot immediately see spirits handing around him.

That just shows the power of television. Really distorts our views.

On another topic, I have Theresa Caputo's book:

I've read about half.

One of the things I found interesting is that in her younger life, she was very apprehensive and insecure. She could hardly do anything--like go out, travel around, drive for herself, etc. She still is that way a little bit, but her condition was alleviated greatly when she acknowledged her gift and began to converse with spirits.

If anyone's interested, I will go through the book and post other tidbits. LMK.

2. von Pragh seems to think that the entire universe can only be perceived through his understanding.

Sound familiar? It's kind of like him saying, "If I can't see the spirits unless I get meditative, then YOU can't." People like this have no clue.

P.S. By all means, please share more tidbits!

I don't think van Pragh comes off as a know it all, but maybe it is possible that Theresa sees them without a meditative state.

I didn't get the feeling van Pragh was putting her down. Maybe just the way he said it. I wouldn't want to imply that through the way I expressed this story.

I know, for example, I get messages in from spirits and I'm not necessarily in a meditative state. Like the other day I was in my kitchen and I heard one express himself in a full sentence.

Theresa says that the way they communicate is through symbols. This kind of surprised me because, like I said, I can hear them in language. So indeed, there may be real differences in the way this happens and van Pragh should perhaps realize that.

I'll post a little more about her symbols when I look at the book next and refresh my memory.

(obviously she had a "ghost writer" write it for her, but that's no biggie--she's not a writer.)
i love her show and think she's very interesting.

re: james. i saw him at a conference and wasn't all that impressed. he was doing audience cold readings and was terribly vague and well, not too good--matter of fact, not good at all! i like his books a lot and was very disappointed when i saw him.

a book i recently finished that i REALLY liked is:
heavenly hugs: comfort, support and hope from the afterlife by carla willis-brandon. i recommend that for anyone interested in communications from "beyond"

another great book:
the soul of your pet: evidence for the survival of animals after death
by scott s. smith
it's a wonderful book (i think it's out of print but you can order it through your library.) it's filled with 1 & 2 paragraph stories from people. amazon doesn't carry it but they list booksellers who have copies.
