Question for the tarot readers, about readings that were just TOTALLY spot on:

Would any of you like to share experiences about when you read someone's cards and an entire situation revealed itself so clearly even you were amazed by it?

It's been over 10 years since I've done any readings for people, though I still have my cards in a carved box, my crystal and my books and study aids. I used to do readings for free for my friends and many of them really liked it.

Anyway, one reading I did I will never forget. What happened is that I was at the home of one of my best friends ever, and his girlfriend came over that evening. My friend was very much in love with this girl. I have to tell you that she was hot enough to model for a living and had a sweet disposition as well. My friend had had numerous girlfriends in the past but coming into his 20s he wanted something potentially permanent, and from the way he always talked it sounded like she would be the one.

So there I was with my cards, reading mat and crystal, and the girlfriend decided it would be cool to have a general reading with no specific query. I laid out a Celtic Cross for her and proceeded to look it over closely for about 5 minutes. Then, this chill hit my guts like ice water because the events of the next month just hit me like a thunderbolt.

I wish I could remember the cards in that spread and their positions, but the gist of the whole thing was that I knew this girl would be leaving my friend for someone else very soon. I knew it like I knew my own name. And this is where things got all fucked up.

Upon realizing what was happening, I couldn't find it within myself to do what first instinct told me to do. I wanted to ask the girlfriend to go outside with me for a short walk so that I could talk to her privately and beg her not to leave my friend for this other guy, because if she did, she would realize too late that she had made a mistake and my friend would be hooked up with someone else. My friend wasn't a "player" necessarily, but he strongly disliked being alone and was very good at finding companionship for better or worse.

Anyway, I have never forgiven myself for this but what I did was dance around this information which was so strong it was literally giving me a headache. I couldn't risk actually being wrong with my intuition and damaging either my friendship with my buddy, their relationship, or both.

Within two weeks of that night, my friend told me that the girlfriend had left him. Within two weeks of that, he was seeing someone else but told me that his ex wasn't happy with her new partner. They made no attempt to reconcile that I know of.

This happened back in either 1989 or 1990, and to this day I've never forgotten it and I still kick myself for doubting what proved to be picture perfect intuition.

Either way, I always call it like I see it--as tactfully as I can manage.

You are not responsible for what people choose to do based on what you tell them--period. Free will is everyting, and you have got to realize as a reader, that there will be times that no matter what you say people will make bad choices. Similarly, if there is something horrible looming, you can offer advice that may help mitigate the damage or even avoid it--but even THAT depends on the person, not on you. You have to think of reading as being kinda like translating from another language. It ain't up to you to SAY it, it is only up to you to report what was already said.

If that's what the reading said that means your friend already KNEW it on an sub-conscious level. (According to my understanding of Tarot.) There may have been some way to talk to him and bring up those s/c feelings/thoughts. Even if you had taken the direct approach, nothing says that he would have headed or even been able to head the warning. I had a looming Tower in my readings for awhile in 2001. It was warning me about my job. I knew it. I still could not/did not avoid the explosion.

I don't remember all the details, but one of my readings has always stuck with me. I used to read for a group of Readers online. The readings were free. But if the client wanted to contact us for future readings, that was fine too. One of the clients who fell to me was wanting to make a big change. The details wane, but it had to do with her desire to relocate, give up her husband/children, etc. something like that. I could immediately see from the reading that she was a bully. And I could see that her real problem wasn't this outside issue, but one deep in her soul. I did a number of readings and follow up correspondence for her, all gratis. I tired to steer her to seeing something besides running away ... but she was stubborn (just as the cards told me) and persisted in her chosen folly.

That reading DID teach me to be more aware of those tiny windows through which most people view themselves. They themselves are the only ones who can enlarge that window. If advice from a Tarot reader doesn't/can't do it, Universe will take care of it nonetheless.

I did one a long time ago for someone I'd known for years, and something in it kept drawing my attention; when I looked at it, I told him it was about his father, that his father wasn't even there...and I was hit by it, and looked up and he was stuck. His father wasn't present in his life as anything more than a selfish problem, and I wasn't comfortable going further. The friendship didn't tend to discuss the mystic, after that. Which is why I'm hesitant to read for many people. I need to become more comfortable with this.

Sometimes someone just plops in and I'm happy to do a reading and it works very well. The querent's receptivity can certainly be an assist, but it's important to learn to be able to work regardless of this.
