First crocus, first daffodil, first work assignment in over a year!

Yesterday was a wonderful day.

I got a small freelance assignment to do some Estonian-English translating, for a company I did some bits of work for a couple of years ago. It's the first work I've had in well over a year. In 2011 I earned exactly zero.

The first pale lavender crocus opened in the yard yesterday, five days earlier than the first one last year. And the first miniature daffodils began blooming.

Birds are singing in the early morning. I saw the first pair of mourning doves. Today I spotted the first robin. Tiny leaves are opening on the roses and the fly honeysuckle bushes.

I know we could get a foot of snow next week, or any time up to the end of March. But it's starting. And soon there will be more daffodils, bright forsythia, and tidal waves of cherry blossoms all over central Maryland.

AND I want to thank you all again and again for your love and help last week with the problems about my daughter. She apologized, we talked, and things have calmed down.

Congratulations...may that assignment lead to many more

p.s. I just checked. Snowdrops are about to bloom. Other bulbs are poking their heads through the leaves. Gotta rake asap!

And double yippee for family harmony!

I have some jonquils up too. The locals call them "buttercups" here, which was really confusing to me for a long time, since buttercups up north are a whole different plant.

Cheers to you for all the good things coming to you.
