now Jakey is having his own trifecta
He could use some healing vibes to support the tea tree oil and miticide!
Last February when Algiers was sick, Jake had turned up with swollen ear flaps. I had a vet appointment with him the morning the idjit neighbors ran coyotes through my pasture, so I ended up canceling the appointment. The swelling was already subsiding and I didn't see any discharge injuries or anything specific inside his ears.
A few weeks later, his ears swelled a 2nd time, on a Saturday I think. This time I saw brown gunk in his ears. Uh-oh...mites? Goggled and confirmed the symptoms. Picked up miticide at the local hardware/farm supply store. Later picked up tea tree oil ear wash for between mite treatments, and a stronger miticide, because I learned that they've developed resistance to over-the-counter miticides, but hadn't used the new stuff because I *thought* we had them licked.
Just a couple days later (last night) found him with swollen ear flaps -- strike 3. His ears were filled with brown gunk. So I washed them out with the tea tree oil wash and then put in the stronger miticide.
He'll be going to the vet on Wednesday for normal spring heartworm, etc. so will have his ears checked and get prescription meds unless the tea tree oil fixes this for good. I'd take him sooner, but won't have a safe car until after it's worked on Tuesday, plus Monday have the horse dentist coming for Dahli's routine maintenance.
Meantime, please send poor Jakey some miticide vibes to help that tea tree oil kill those suckers once and for all!!!!! And help soothe the itch, so he quits shaking his head...
