the crazy is out in full force
holy. moly.
6 ERs in very short order last night, including a drug overdose and a chest pain, which gets a new protocol courtesy of new federal requirements. That may not sound like a lot, but this is a tiny rural hospital and there were only 3 of us on and it was right in the middle of me doing QC on our chemistry analyzer and the other tech up in OB giving somebody their rhogam. The lab assistant is wonderful, but she thinks she's living the teevee show ER, so everything is her shouting at the top of her lungs and running in circles. As in, "IT'S CHEST PAIN PROTOCOL! I DREW A RAINBOW PER PROTOCOL!!!!!! THEY STILL WEREN'T EVEN ON THE GURNEY!!!! I DREW THEM STILL IN THE AMBULANCE!!!!!! I I DREW A GREEN TOP! SHOULD I USE THE GREEN TOP FOR THE TROPONIN?!?! SHOULD I PUT THE TROPONIN RIGHT IN THE NEW STAT SPINNER?!? I'M PUTTING THE TROPONIN IN THE NEW STAT SPINNER, ACCORDING TO PROTOCOL!!!!! I'M PUTTING THE LABELS OVER HERE!!!!! I'M GOING TO GO PUT IN THE ORDERS!!!! THE PROTOCOL SAYS I SHOULD DO THAT!!!!!!!!" It makes it really, really, really hard to do anything without crashing into her, or having her crash into you. And impossible to think straight....
In the meantime, the lead chemistry tech suddenly is being VERY VERY NICE to me. This is the woman that berated me 8 hours/day, daily for 3 weeks straight, who gets snippy and rude if I ever speak to her without being spoken to first (how dare I say hello?!?), and has made a point of hating me since day 1. I don't trust the overnight change. As it happens, it coincides with them hiring a new tech, who did clinicals here and who everybody loves. So I really think that is why she is suddenly, overnight, so nicey nice.
Here on the farm is a new set of neighbor issues. There's always one neighbor or another, and this time it's the guy right across the street who has me in his crosshairs. He let slip a few weeks ago that a friend of his wants to buy my house. I believe they're jointly trying to force me into selling at bankruptcy, even while I've stopped trying to sell. Suddenly, things that made no sense make sense:
1. Last fall, somebody somehow left a giant moose liver in his front yard, right next to the well head. I couldn't understand how somebody could "forget" the moose liver when they cleaned up the moose that was hit by a car. Now I think it was done on purpose, to lure my dogs into the street.
So Yesterday, I thought Luna was right behind me when I headed to the barn, but he unexpectedly did a u-turn and ended up running across the street. The guy and his friends are putting new siding on his trailer right now, and I guess Luna couldn't resist trying to check them out. So he made a huge deal about it, going on and on and on at the top of his lungs.
This is the same guy who's 2 dogs spent every day running around my front yard while he was inside boozing...for 18 months I rounded up his dog. And who had rat poison out within reach of his dogs, and let one of them die from it. Also the same guy who called the cops on me the one time my goat slipped the gait and was grazing in her own yard. Also within a week or so of Algiers' burial, I found a cigarette butt behind my garage, sitting on top of the snow but partly melted in. He is the *only* person who knew, who smokes, and who can see my comings and goings enough to know he has time to sneak in and check around, and who would do that. I think he was trying to figure out where I buried him, probably to try to report me if he was too close to anything (he wasn't. nearest well is mine and a good 600 feet away).
Last fall he "offered" to shoot Algiers and implied his meat would be valuable  I lived in fear until the moose was hit. I figured he was a lousy hunter looking for cheap food for the winter  He also tried a couple years ago to hire an uninsured, unlicensed friend of his cut down my 2 maples in the front yard. I lived in fear that I'd come home and find them down through my roof, and him claiming that I'd hired his friend to do it.
There was a time when I would never have been so paranoid, but I have learned not to trust anybody in this very red armpit of midcoast Maine!
My angel visit and all my meditation since last fall has been on what I really want to be doing for the rest of my life, so I'm guessing this is all part of the "plan" to push that forward, but I wish people would stop trying to force issues. It will happen when it happens. I'm just so sick of the crazies all around me!!!!

(31,411 posts)Sometimes it helps to verbalize it. It can make it sound like less if you say it out loud. I guess it clarifies the absurdity of it, and makes it easier to laugh at. Laughing at it can sometimes dissolve and dissipate it. Then, finding one positive in the whole situation and verbalizing that can help, too.
Hugs to you, and supportive thoughts.
