Happy Mother's Day to all of you- my nurturing friends here at ASAH

Happy Mother's Day to all of my kind friends here. It is the one day we celebrate the capacity, willingness and commitment to love and nurture the young and old and ill of all species on our earth, and all of the creative arts. Despite it being illogical (no or little pay, little or no respect- except among other's of like heart and mind), often messy, discouraging, mistake prone, and wrought with seemingly endless labor. Labor without tangible result- as life is ephemeral, uncontrollable and has it's own tricks and turns.

Illuminating clearly that love really is the most important thing.

Love to all of you who mother our living evolving world. And thank you for doing it every day (and night).

And thank you for being in my life encouraging me in my journey of mothering.

It is a blessing--yet--at the same time a painful process.

Just keep telling yourself, "Like a kidney stone, this too shall pass..." Parenting is the best job I've ever had, but it sure does have its days. If I've actually learned anything at all, it would be to laugh as much as you can because there is always gonna be something later to either piss you off or make you want to cry. You can't prevent either one, so laugh while you can--that way you can at least remember the last time you laughed whenever you are hip deep in the other stuff. The true payoff comes when your grown kids CHOOSE to spend time with you and they CHOOSE to call you because they realize that you love them and they love you, and they even kind of LIKE you most days.

The rest of it is a crap shoot, I think.

Happy Mother's Day to you!
