Today is Gaudete Sunday, the third Sunday of Advent. Gaudete is the latin word for "rejoice".

On the first two Sundays of Lent the priestly vestments were purple; on Gaudete Sunday the vestments are rose-colored.
Similarly, on the Advent wreath, candles for the first two Sundays were purple, today, Gaudete Sunday, the third candle is rose-colored. The fourth candle will again be purple.
