Leonard Cohen, speaking of Jesus Christ:

I’m very fond of Jesus Christ. He may be the most beautiful guy who walked the face of this earth. Any guy who says “Blessed are the poor. Blessed are the meek” has got to be a figure of unparallelled generosity and insight and madness…A man who declared himself to stand among the thieves, the prostitutes and the homeless. His position cannot be comprehended. It is an inhuman generosity. A generosity that would overthrow the world if it was embraced because nothing would weather that compassion.

An interesting view from a man who explored many paths in his life journey.

I think the way a lot of people see Christianity is informed by the right wing version of it. That is just one aspect of Christianity. And if those kinds of Christians were to take an honest look at what their guru actually said and did, they’d see that they’re mostly wrong in their assessment of Christ. But they make the most noise so I guess they get the most attention.
