Easter services

Which is your favorite service? Here at St. Matthew's Episcopal we have three, Saturday night, sunrise and regular 10a.m. I've gone to all three as a choir member, but I really like Saturday night. It's dramatic with the lighting of the fire and the torch lit procession into the church. Yeah, we stand outside no matter the weather and in Wyoming it could be snowing!

But I was in a choir that did that Easter Vigil service (Episcopal) on the night before Easter that was really beautiful.

2. My favorite is the 11 AM service on Sunday - because it is the last one

Thursday night. Friday night. Saturday night. 3 on Sunday morning with a choir report time of 7:15 AM

Yep I’m in the choir and we sing a lot. Good news is we are an excellent choir so it is enjoyable. (Most if the time) But it is a time commitment. Services don’t count as rehearsal time so there has been a good 3 hours of that this week, too.

FWIW - ELCA Lutheran and no one forces me to do this. I love choral singing especially under the direction of a really good director. But I will admit by the time the last service is over I’m done and ready to go home, slip out of my heels, and relax for the rest of the day.

Easter blessings to all of you

We don’t have quite as many services but it’s still a lot. Worth it IMO. We’re getting a week off from rehearsals next week (yay!). Happy Easter!

4. No handbells on Easter. No room for the tables.

But we will have 3 trumpets, 2 trombones, a French horn, tympani and chimes.

Handbells will ring in April. Love ringing bells.
