The director of the Jewish community in a western Ukrainian town was stabbed in an apparent antisemitic attack, the United Jewish Community of Ukraine announced on its Telegram Channel on Thursday.
Igor Perelman, the director of the Jewish community of Ivano-Frankivsk in western Ukraine, was stabbed three times by an assailant while walking in the citys center. The assailant was shouting antisemitic statements in front of numerous witnesses, the UJCU stated, calling on Ukrainian Jews to recite psalms for his recovery.
The Jewish communal leaders wounds have been sewn up and he is currently recovering, the UJCUs chief operating officer, Vitaliy Kamozin, told Haaretz. There were antisemitic statements, but the motive is not yet clear, he said, adding that police are investigating the matter.

(11,577 posts)I mean, one of the reasons that Putin gave for going into Russia was "de-Nazification." The assailant was probably an FSB plant.
Behind the Aegis
(55,072 posts)Russia has really been trying to push the "de-Nazification" crap hard, at least until the past few days. Of course, Ukraine has a vile history in regard to Jews. It is also possible we are going to see Ukrainians start to blame Jews for the invasion and continuing onslaught. There is already a section of people who blame us for the war, and worse, there are those on the left who essentially blame Israel for it as well, including their mythical ability to bring this to an end using their military. Any way you slice it, there is ALWAYS those who will find a Jew, any Jew (or stand-in), to blame.
