The Magistrate has suffered a massive heart attack and his family has gathered. He was an ally to the Jewish community (and a friend to me) and often spoke out against anti-Semitism and did an incredible job defending us. Please take a moment to recognize an ally will soon be leaving us and wish him well on his journey and love and peace to his family.

Thank you, Sir.
May James' memory be a blessing.

(56,209 posts)It is a sad day for DU and for the Jewish Group to have lost such a tremendous person and personality.
Please extend our heartfelt sympathy to his family and let them know how much he was appreciated.

(26,656 posts)The family has been reading the many heart felt comments in the threads. They have been mentioned that they were very touched by the out pouring of well wishes and reminisces of James. A truly special and remarkable individual.
They mentioned he was writing a memoir, and once things settle down to maybe be able to share stories from it. Sounded like a remarkable man, and whose life's stories something to read with pleasure.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
