(4,884 posts)1. Do we know how many other hostages remain unaccounted for?
In April, Hamas released a video of Goldberg-Polin when he was still alive on their Telegram channel, with his arm amputated due to it being blown off in October.

IDF AND ISA RECOVER BODIES OF HOSTAGES FROM GAZA TUNNEL: CARMEL GAT, EDEN YERUSHALMI, HERSH GOLDBERG-POLIN, ALEXANDER LOBANOV, ALMOG SARUSI, AND MASTER SERGEANT ORI DANINOThe IDF and Israel Security Agency have located and recovered the bodies of hostages Carmel Gat, Eden Yerushalmi, Hersh Goldberg-Polin, Alexander Lobanov, Almog Sarusi, and Master Sergeant Ori Danino.
These individuals were abducted by Hamas on October 7th and were found in an underground tunnel in the Rafah area of the Gaza Strip. The bodies were recovered and returned to Israeli territory. An identification process was carried out by the National Institute of Forensic Medicine, the Israel Police, and the IDF Military Rabbinate. The IDF Manpower Directorate's Hostage team, responsible for supporting the families of hostages, has notified the families of the deceased. The IDF and ISA extended their deepest condolences to the families.IDF Spokesman Rear Adm.
Daniel Hagari reported that the six hostages were "brutally murdered" by Hamas terrorists shortly before IDF troops reached them. According to him, "They were abducted alive on the morning of October 7 by the Hamas terror group. Their bodies were found during the fighting in Rafah, in a tunnel, about a kilometer away from the tunnel from which we rescued Farhan al-Qadi a few days ago." Hagari also mentioned that since the rescue of Farhan al-Qadi, IDF troops had been operating with heightened caution in the area due to the possibility of additional hostages. However, they lacked precise information on the exact locations of the remaining hostages.Reports from Channel 11 and Kann News confirmed that the bodies were found in a tunnel at a depth of 20 meters, about a kilometer from the location where hostage Farhan al-Qadi was rescued the previous week.

My heart cries for his parents. There will be an empty seat at the table for RH and YK.
I lost my mom suddenly in early June - and was going to host RH in her memory this year. I'm serving apples and honey for Hersh too.
