I have a question: would you all consider the Jewish Journal a "little-known" publication? Or a right-wing one? (Original Post) LauraInLA Sep 18 OP

pro-immigrant. And I guess I’ve mainly read about topics related to Judaism in the Jewish Journal. Oh, well. I feel extraordinarily embarrassed.

that does not make the publication itself untrustworthy, but the reputation and credibility of all their commentary (as with all publications) need to be evaluated independently.

That which you posted has no basis in fact. It was based on nothing more than assertions-- but it and others like it have been promoted by RW propagandists presumed to bolster the Trump-Vance anti-Haitian immigrant memes.

And the mediabiasfactcheck website does rate the Jewish Journal “High for factual reporting based on the use of proper sources and a clean fact-check record.” Oh, well, I learn something every day.

found the commentator suspicious enough to review HER background--which has quite a bit of a question that we brought to your attention. Just because an individual gets a piece in an online or MSM source as a commentator or freelancer does not a valid trustworthy source or journalist make. Not to mention the only secondary source for her assertions was a known RW propaganda source per WIKI (also mentioned in your thread) which might well be the source for HER commentary. Be aware, a lot of propaganda is being seeded right now. I don't want to see it here--nor do most of the rest of DU.

The Jewish Journal of Greater Los Angeles, known simply as the Jewish Journal, is an independent, nonprofit community weekly newspaper serving the Jewish community of greater Los Angeles, published by TRIBE Media Corp. Its editorial stance is conservative.[2][3]

. .. article to take the heat off trDUMP & JD Vance. To divert attention away from the Haitians eating pets allegations by Team trDUMP and Right-wing media.

That issue sort of blew up in their faces and the deeper you look into this Haitians eat pets story the more ludicrous it becomes. It seems the Right-wing would rather make scrambled eggs out of the issue - to make it impossible to sort out.

In steps Ohio Attorney General David Yost - a ReThug right-winger who is also running for Governor to replace DeWine. Yost has stuck his nose into this issue in the hopes to defend trDUMP & JD Vance - CYA style. Enhance and butress his run for governor. And finally dump on Biden because federal money was not sent to Ohio to defray the cost of supporting this influx of Haitian refugees. Meaning the Biden/Harris admin was incompetently handling the immigrant crisis,... and trDUMP/Vance could have done a so much better job. (Vote Team trDUMP/Vance 2024)

AttyGen/Goveror elect - David Yost is putting a right-wing spin on this Haitian fiasco to dump on and put the spotlight on Haitians and Biden/Harris while covering the ass of trDUMP/Vance.

Yost may have even had a hand in the release of the Jewish Journal article about the human trafficking of Haitians to Ohio. Again as a diversion to deflect attention off of the Haitians eat your pets fiasco.

Here Yosts AttyGen office and Yosts campaign for governor press sec make statements to a local Ohio newspaper saying citizens have made formal complaints to the police about Haitians stealing pets. And another testified in a city council meeting that a Haitian was seen with two geese that he took from a pond on a city park.

But last week, Yost’s campaign claimed that undocumented immigrants were “terrorizing” Ohio communities. As evidence, it pointed to a Fox News article about the situation in Springfield that made no such claim.

Nevertheless, on Wednesday, Yost continued to perpetuate assertions about Haitians in Springfield.

“There’s a recorded police call from a witness who saw immigrants capturing geese for food in Springfield,” Yost said in his X post. “Citizens testified to City Council. These people would be competent witnesses in court. Why does the media find a carefully worded City Hall press release better evidence?”

In other words, Yost, a former journalist, was criticizing the media for not assigning the same credibility to any claim made in a police call or council meeting as they would to the public declarations of the Springfield mayor, city manager, police chief, and the Ohio governor.

Yost campaign spokeswoman Amy Natoce was asked how the attorney general could justify this logic, and whether he was concerned that his post would further whip up racial resentments and place a target on a minority community in the United States.

She replied that Yost was using official resources to answer those questions.

There was a Black guy walking down the street with two dead fully feathered Canadian geese. But those geese did not come from a city park. They were road kill from a car accident who ran over the geese. And the man took them home rather than waste good poultry meat. Oh,.. and the gentleman was not Haitian but a Black African/American US citizen.

A Facebook story about a Haitian stealing a neighbors cat to have for dinner. This story was blown way out of proportion and the lady eventually apologized. The missing cat was found two day later - it was inadvertently locked in the basement of the owner's house.

Fascist groups have come to Ohio to further exploit the Haitian situation and ferment hate.

~~~~~~~~
The origin of these stories about the Haitians which 'reporters' claim we have mainstreamed come from the citizens of Springfield themselves," the gang said in an email to Military.com on Monday.
The woman who spread initial claims of pet-eating on Facebook told NBC News that she had no firsthand knowledge of such accounts and regretted sharing the narrative. A Springfield city website also noted that a local game warden with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources says there is no evidence to support claims that immigrants were killing geese in the city's parks for food.
Still, Blood Tribe doubled down and said, "We have every intention of continuing to uncover the financial corruption behind the Haitian invasion there, making sure they are all repatriated, and ensuring those who are responsible are held accountable for their actions against the citizens of Ohio."
I am a self taught scholar of the Abrahamic faiths as well as the Brahman and Muslim faiths. They say it isn't recognized by European Abrahamic faiths, but... supposedly Jesus studyied with the Brahmans in India as well during the "lost years" between the age of 12 and the age of thirty. What has opened my eyes about them all, is how much we have in common with one another when it comes to our spiritual selves.
Why am I telling you this? Because from my perpsective I have learned a lot about what we all have in common from hundreds of writings. However after everything I have learned, I have never heard about this Journel and perhaps I should have. So in that way, perhaps it is unknown at least to me. Since I have never read it I do not know if it right wing or left wing. IMO we need both sides (not in that stooopid Fox "both sides)" but in the real examining of what those sides mean in respect and desire to listen before we come to any conclusion. .
I am not sure this helps, but I hope it does
