Tonight I will light a yahrzeit candle for the Bibas family.

Light one if you can. 🧡

And please remember to only do so safely.

(For non Jews: A yahrzeit candle is lit at sundown, and stays lit for 24 hours.
That is why safety is important, for those who are not aware of that fact.)

I like the prayer saying that the deceased person's soul is a light from God.
And may the light of the candle bring peace to their souls and eternal life.
And reside with the souls of other esteemed souls.

2. This is the prayer that I say:

"I light this candle to bring peace to the soul of ________ (insert Jewish name) ben/bat (son of/daughter of) ________ (insert father's Jewish name)."

If you are lighting it for Ariel and Kfir you would fill In their names with the name of their father, Yarden.
Shiri's father's name was Yosef. (Shiri's parents, Yossi and Margit were murdered on Oct 7th at Kibbutz Nir Oz.)

Any prayer you would like to say is also just fine.

Thank you so much for asking Irish_Dem.

I have Jewish family, they married in to the family.

I used to go the Temple with them every week.
The prayers and music, I loved so much, and the rabbi's sermons.

The lighting of candles, singing the prayer, it is so meaningful for me.

I am going to light a candle at sundown for Ariel and Kfer and add the names of their parents.
And say your prayer.

Say a prayer for these children.
I will also ask for eternal protection.
So no one will ever hurt them again in this way.

One of the most beautiful and ancient of prayers. Translated from the Aramaic:

Mourner’s Kaddish in English Translation

Glorified and sanctified be God’s great name throughout the world
which He has created according to His will.

May He establish His kingdom in your lifetime and during your days,
and within the life of the entire House of Israel, speedily and soon;
and say, Amen.

May His great name be blessed forever and to all eternity.

Blessed and praised, glorified and exalted, extolled and honored,
adored and lauded be the name of the Holy One, blessed be He,
beyond all the blessings and hymns, praises and consolations that
are ever spoken in the world; and say, Amen.

May there be abundant peace from heaven, and life, for us
and for all Israel; and say, Amen.

He who creates peace in His celestial heights,
may He create peace for us and for all Israel;
and say, Amen.

. . . Israel was the name given to Jacob. From Jacob's lineage came Jesus. So in this prayer, I do not believe it is only for the country of Israel nor Jews, but for all.
