I might have to look into hotel rooms now, so I can throw doggie in the car and head down there.
The centerline on the map runs right through Marion.

4+ hours of driving for 4 minutes might(!) not be worth it.

(3,534 posts)I was lucky enough to see the 2017 total eclipse and the 2023 annular eclipse.
Both were magical. A friend described it as "The universe reaching down and grabbing you by the throat!"

(69,878 posts)...I was in Shanghai in July of 2009. So, I did get to see a total eclipse in my lifetime.
If I had never witnessed one, I would drive down there for sure.

Schools are closed and most hotels and campsites are booked. This is a very rural area, so it should be interesting!
