Chinese battery-making giant, CATL just signed a contract to supply 60GWh of Sodium batteries - the biggest in history. Are Lithium batteries about to become obsolete?

and from the outset, the fast recharge time compensated for the somewhat lower energy density but the challenges prevented tize reduction that would make thse practical for things from tools to transportation.

Other chemistries are starting to mature. Here's a short video on chemistries that can be scaled up to work seamlessly with renewables like solar and wind:



Note that the Chinese are way ahaead of us. They've been figuring out dry lands, non lethal power generation for a long time.
