Related: About this forumHuckabee: God's Blessing Would Help Me as President to Stop 'Secular Theocracy'
The ex-Fox News host said he was considering a 2016 presidential run.
Former Fox News host Mike Huckabee said on Thursday that if he was elected president then he would have Gods blessing to fight a so-called secular theocracy that had been imposed by atheists.
During an appearance on the Christian Life Today program, Huckabee told televangelist James Robinson that he was considering a 2016 presidential bid because the country needed to become a God-centered nation that understands that our laws do not come from man, they come from God.
...
We have a theocracy right now, Robinson interrupted. Its a secular theocracy.
Thats it, Huckabee agreed. Its a humanistic, atheistic, even antagonistic toward Christian faith. And thats what we need to understand. Our basic, fundamental rights are being robbed from us, taken from us piece by piece.
...
You know, the only thing worse than not being elected president would be to be elected president without Gods blessing, he observed. I cant think of a worse place in the world to be than in the Oval Office without Gods hand upon you. Id rather not get near the place.

Trust me, Huckabee, you delusional pile of human excrement, we'd rather you not get near the place either.
And wtf is a "secular theocracy"?

Martin Eden
(13,480 posts)His mind works like any religious zealot; everything has to fit within the narrow worldview defined by his belief system.
Those who do not subscribe to his religion have to be members of a different religion, including atheism/agnosticism.
At a fundamental level people like Huckabee are no different than the Taliban or ISIS. Fortunately for them they were born in a more prosperous, safer part of the world. If the circumstances were different, their religious zealotry would likely manifest in more obvious forms of violence than the various forms of economic injustice and social oppression they inflict on our own country as much as they can.

(654 posts)he absolutely is clueless that a great many people like me don't even think about god or religion until some idiot knocks on our door or tries to indoctrinate your kids at school or at sports...
His worldview is dangerous, as he thinks he answers to a higher power and not you and I when is in office. We don't need that at any level of our government, all these religious fools looking for magical good old days...when there were none that were better than we have it now. As screwed up as we still are it's still better than any other period of our history...we live longer, we commit less murder by half compared to the 1970s, medical treatments over the last 40 years have made restoring eyesight to an eye damaged like mine a simple 10 minute procedure instead of a month in the hospital...and we are finally starting to recognize that all Americans should actually be equal under the law...one could argue that as we've become less religious we kill less people and recognize our fellow Americans more readily as worthy of equal treatment under the law. As religion recedes we are becoming a better nation than ever before.
Martin Eden
(13,480 posts)To them, the battle for marriage equality (LGBT) is an assault on their religion rather than a rejection of their bigotry.
With politicians you can't always be sure if they believe their own rhetoric or they're just blowing dog whistles to motivate the base to vote for them, but I think Huckabee (and especially Santorum) are true believers.

(9,356 posts)When he was governor of Arkansas in 1997, tornadoes hit the state. Thousands of people hurt and left homeless, millions in property damage.
Huckabee delayed emergency funding for WEEKS because the relief bill contained the words "act of God." He said that would be "blaming God" for the disaster, and he just couldn't tolerate that. Only the good stuff comes from God, as we all know from reading Other DU Groups.
And as most sane people know, "act of God" is standard insurance-speak for "disaster." The phrase has been used that way forever in insurance policies.
So while real people suffered, Huckabee refused to help because of a perceived insult to his particular Sky-Pixie.
Not to mention that Holy Huckabee stole the governorship. He was serving as Lieutenant-Governor when the state's Dem governor, Jim Guy Tucker, got swept up in the Clinton Inquisition. Tucker was acquitted and should have resumed the office. But The Huckster refused to leave.
The linked article is from 2008, when Huckabee was also running for Prez. Note that he was saying the complete opposite of the OP article above - he LOVES separation of church and state, and would NEVER try to impose his religious views on anybody else, nosiree!
And this lying POS is constantly pimped by the MSM as a "nice guy."

I also know all about those acts of God. One of our neighbors lost several cows to a lightning strike and the insurance company wouldn't pay up because it was an aog. They argued with them for almost a year but ended up losing. I remember my dad saying they should send God the bill.

Off-topic Mom update: yesterday afternoon she yelled at me that a possum was on the front porch.
Huh? Lots of possums live around here, but they are nocturnal and avoid humans. They don't wander around in the afternoon visiting houses like marsupalian Jehovah's Witnesses.
Our visitor was a groundhog, not a possum. Yep, it was standing there on the front porch bold as could be. Like it was expecting to be invited in for dinner. Probably just woke up from hibernating and is hungry.
I walked around the property to make sure it isn't building a Groundhog Condo for the family. Those little bastards love to tunnel under buildings with concrete floors - giving their Condos a pre-fab roof to keep them nice and dry. And eventually collapsing the floor if they tunnel long enough.
Told Mom she had failed Wildlife 101. And after living most of her life out in the country, too.
beam me up scottie
(57,349 posts)It is unusual for groundhogs to come calling, they're pretty anti-social. We have to foul their burrows so the horses don't break their legs in them.
I remember when our big city neighbor wanted help dispatching an opossum that took up residence underneath his living room. He was going to kill it by shooting through the floorboards... I explained why having a decomposing opossum underneath your living room was worse than having a live one and to just block the tunnel under the house and leave the poor critter be.
I named him Bubba (the opossum, not the neighbor), he used to eat with the stray cats on the back porch. One time a German Shepard had him cornered by the garage, you should have heard Bubba snarl, thought we had a Tasmanian Devil out there. The dog looked at me like "Should I?" I was like "No, dude, really, I wouldn't". He did the smart thing and left Bubba alone.
I'm enjoying living out in the sticks now, opossums and groundhogs are more intelligent than our former neighbors. Quieter too.
