Atheists Are Raising Money to Help Victims of the Nepal Earthquake
Last night, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal and every article seems to report more tragedy than the last. What we do know is that more than 1,000 people are dead and many more are injured and homeless.
Foundation Beyond Beliefs Humanist Disaster Recovery team is now raising funds to help the victims and their families.
We are still in the process of vetting a beneficiary that is secular in nature, efficient, and local. We should have that figured out by tomorrow. In the meantime, if youd like to make a donation now, you can do so here so we can get that money out as soon as possible. 100% of your donations will go to that recipient Foundation Beyond Belief doesnt take any overhead for this. If youd like to wait until we announce the charity well be working with, I completely understand. You can see recaps of our previous disaster efforts here.
Please give if you can. Prayers arent going to help.
(Full disclosure: Im on the FBB board of directors)

(34,862 posts)1. I was going to donate $20
but I am going to give $10 and pray another $10 worth.
What's the harm in that?

What you don't know is that every theist who views your post will be moved by your prayer to donate $10.

(34,862 posts)3. really?
Maybe I should start a GoFundMe campaign and collect money for my prayers.

(12,799 posts)4. I suggest an ebay auction.
As for "really?" -- I pray so.
