Heres my interpretation of the Bibles opinion on Same-Sex marriage:
Anything derogatory it says about same-sex marriage is nothing more than prejudice against gay individuals by primitive tribes.

So, what Id like you to do is throw your Bible away. Because, honestly, this is ridiculous. Why the heck would you hang on to that ancient rulebook crafted by bigots? Its time to look past that to people who exist and who love each other.
I guess thats why Im an anti-theist. I see progressives and conservatives and fatheists arguing over what God supposedly REALLY said, and Im standing here like can we move pass this? Can we move past trying to get to the true meaning of texts and start looking at, like, the flesh and blood people right in front of us?
...
I mean, this is absurd. Im tired of being trapped in a stone age when there are people in the current age who want to show their love for each other.
Lets quit making this so damn complicated. Two people love each other. They want to get married. Awesome.

Leave it to an anti-theist to point out the obvious: "when youre trying to engineer an egalitarian society, messing with nonexistent variables doesnt seem all that helpful."

(113,130 posts)would turn up two facts: first, god said nothing, it was all the rantings of the priests; and second, most of it was an indictment of male on male pederasty.
However, most religious ranters never read it at all.

(57,349 posts)The religious read only the parts they're told to read and disregard the rest.
If you're allowed to ignore parts of the rulebook doesn't that prove how worthless it is as a rulebook?

(113,130 posts)and you'd think if he was as sex obsessed as his priests were, then gay sex would have made that ten commandments, along with abortion.
Unfortunately, the morons who say "god did it" to everything they can't understand (which is nearly everything) don't see it that way. To them, god sat down and wrote the KJV in English.

(57,349 posts)Parsing through the bible trying to find the Truth, yeah, that's not a monumental waste of time.
Like the author said "Lets move on, guys. Throw that book away, loosen up and cheer a gay wedding, support lgbt individuals and then, like, lets get some ice cream or play ping pong or something."

Needless to say, she is praying for my soul.

(7,531 posts)But you have to consider the history of those times. Everyone was a bigot then. Look out your window. You don't see any bigots nowadays. You do? And those bigots are holding a Bible? Yeah, it is time to throw it out.

And we're supposed to be able to tell which factions are interpreting it correctly how, exactly?

Thousands of years of uselessness. And it seems most religions kill people over things that aren't even in the original holy books, but theological crap piled up over the centuries.
This of course also relates to the "Dennett is a poppy-head" lame hit piece making the rounds. "You can't possibly understand religion unless you know all about the useless baloney we've made up about it since it started".
Yes you can. You can understand it's made up guesses by profoundly ignorant ancient peoples.
