"God isn't concerned with man's law. He is only concerned with you."

I heard that on some radio show the other day. If only all religious people saw it that way, we could do away with all of the meddling of religious people trying to tie their views to politics.

I don't care much about religion as it is. Most of the time I only think about it when some jackass is trying to make Biblical law secular law. If all religious people saw their relationship with their God as strictly personal, we would surely live in a much more peaceful world.

But all too often what they mean is "God is so important to me personally that I want to enact all his words in the holy babble into American law and fuck you, you worthless, immoral atheists" .

And that bit about, "It's a Christian nation," as if there is no room here for people who see things differently and those who do are destroying the country. The remedy? "The Constitution is God's word." Such thinking just opens up the flood gates for all kinds of mingling between church and state.

Not to mention completely ignores the Founding Fathers, Constitution, and the very IDEA of America.

After all, when we were colonies, we were colonies of a Christian Nation.... with a King , whose family had been chosen by god to rule. That is what a Christian Nation was in 1789. The whole idea of what our country should be is antithetical to a Christian Nation!
