I was like 4 and those words scared the SHIT out of me. I was afraid I was going to die in my sleep. I was afraid that if I didn't explicitly and specifically ask God to take my soul *every night* and I died, I would burn in hell for eternity.

Awful shit for a little kid to have to think about.

I also was afraid that I would die before I woke. What a horrible thing to do to kids! And I don't think that they ever think about the effect it has......just a cute little ditty.
