http://www.salon.com/2015/05/21/meet_the_christian_rights_new_doomsday_prophet_%e2%80%94%c2%a0and_his_insane_apocalyptic_blood_moon_theory/Something about jewish astrology, yaddayaddayadda ... Point is, the Family Research Council, the World Net Daily and, yes, a US-congressman believe that the apocalypse will come in September 2015.
"The Family Research Council urged its flock to heed Lotzs call. And note: The FRC is not some ramshackle backwoods chapel filled with snake handlers; the well-heeled D.C. lobbying groups Values Voter Summit in late summer will be a whos who of conservatism, with Rush Limbaugh, Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Sean Hannity and a host of others expected to speak at the conference."
"The prophecy and its increasingly arcane calculus stand in strange relation to the coincident right-wing rejection of science. The actual, impending threat to humanity, global warming, is considered a hoax, an invention out of whole cloth, while the color of the moon and the spotty wisdom of goat herders from 3,000 years ago is stitched together into some kind of astro-hermeneutics, used to determine whether or not October happens."
Fellow Atheists!
Now is the time to reveal our true power!
Now is the time to reveal our might!
It is time to unpackage and assemble the "ANTI-THESIS SUPER-ULTRA MULTI-NIHILATOR (TM)" that has been gathering dust in the basement!
With this machine we will prevent the apocalypse in September 2015!
The Family Research Council has said that this apocalypse will happen. If it doesn't happen that means that it was us that saved mankind and planet Earth! And then the Family Research Council will have to admit that we Atheists wield a power stronger and more terrible than their puny God!
Fellow Atheists! Are you with me?
(We need someone who can read the assembly instructions in the manual. It's some weird non-american language with ø, å and umlauts.)

Harold Camping of Family Radio (what is it with fundies and 'family' designators? Do they think atheists are spontaneous self-generators as some used to consider maggots to be?) predicted the second coming would happen 5/21/2011.
I may not know all this sophisticated theology I keep hearing about, but I seem to have missed the promised portents.
Matt 24:36 gets me off the hook, but why do so many people who should take the Gospels as...well...gospel seem to be so keen to blithely jump on that hook time and again?
