(48,181 posts)The interview the woman reporter did with the people who matter of factly told her they rape lesbians to de-gay them and kill male homosexuals was chilling. She couldn't get out of that situation fast enough, and for me as a viewer my discomfort level was so high I could barely keep watching it. I cannot imagine how she felt.

(49,533 posts)These people are OBVIOUSLY convinced that homosexuality goes against their god's will. Just as convinced as liberal believers are that neglecting to take care of the poor is against THEIR god's will.
No, somehow the only way to discuss this and not be shouted down as an "anti-theist bigot" is to instead say that the former group isn't really religious at all, that they hate gay people because they want their land, or because they are political foes, or some such obnoxious whitewashing garbage. Or hey, I guess it would also be acceptable to say that the gay people "offended" the believers and therefore deserve to be attacked, right?

(20,805 posts)More than a little of both I'd bet...
How christ-like of them to rape women that don't conform to their religion's idea of what a woman should do...
The mindless parroting of that hatred by the school kids was awful as well...
I only wish there was a hell so that the people that poison the minds of the young and innocent, and condone and encourage the rape and murder of homosexuals would get to burn in the flames they thought were for someone else...

(18,219 posts)an excellent way to convince a woman who doesn't want to have sex with men that having sex with men is good.
I also wish that there was a hell.....for so many reasons.

(54,863 posts)LOL!
So many people call me "beyond" instead of "behind the aegis" I am starting to think I got the wrong name! LOL!
I know I shouldn't be so negative, but I really think many here don't give a shit about LGBT issues, especially when they are for foreigners, unless it interferes or intersects with a topic of their interest. Just so you know, I appreciate your participation in those threads as well as posting LGBT issues!! It has been noticed!

Although, honestly, I can't say that my interest in LGBTQ issues are entirely without a bit self interest.[/font]

(42 posts)...but I saw that posted vid of the documentary. It disgusted me too. The Dominionists have been hard at work at exporting their agenda overseas:
(from Jan. 24, 2014) "Earlier this week, The New York Times posted an excerpt from a new Roger Ross Williams documentary on how the Religious Right in the U.S. is shaping anti-gay activism in African countries like Uganda. The documentary includes interviews with International House of Prayer (IHOP) leaders Lou Engle and Mike Bickle, whom we have followed closely here at Right Wing Watch, along with footage of IHOP missionaries at work in Uganda...Engle organizes the anti-choice and anti-gay The Call rallies, which regularly feature Republican and Religious Right leaders. In 2010, he brought The Call to Uganda to help promote the Anti-Homosexuality Bill, which would have made homosexuality a capital offense. (He later backpedaled after facing scrutiny.) IHOP, including many The Call figures, helped to organize Texas Gov. Rick Perrys 2011 The Response prayer rally, which Bickle emceed." -- Right Wing Watch http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/new-york-times-investigates-relationship-between-american-dominionists-and-uganda
We not only have to worry about the Dominionist threat here in America, but around the world too.

(27,281 posts)Was glad to see the interview with Jeff Sharlet. I read "The Family" a few years ago. Uganda had it's own chapter.
