(7,886 posts)I've been sitting on that one for a bit, read it and bookmarked it for a rainy day. Then i forgot about it until now, which is why it's not being posted at peak hours, cause every time i think "oh, I'll post it at a better time" i forget until I'm in the shower And can't do anything about it.

(113,130 posts)I'm not surprised the anti abortionists are lying about it, they've never told the truth about much of anything yet.
Every midwife had potions for early abortion and knowledge of what to do when the potion failed. It must be said that the laws against abortion were passed before antibiotics, surgical anesthesia, and other medical advances. Abortion might have been quite common but it was also quite dangerous, almost as dangerous as it became when it was driven underground. Another part was stealing an important part of midwifery away from women, allowing male doctors to intrude more into the childbirth process.
Antiabortionists don't have a legal, historical, or factual leg to stand on.

It's not just women who are dying for this cause.

(7,886 posts)They had some good stuff, morphine, opium, etc. but the noted part is the male doctors stopped using it the same time they passed laws against abortion because they wanted to punish Eve.
