(9,666 posts)How many times had we heard how stupid the American people were? For DECADES I've been hearing it. And yet, voting for a Republican before Trump didn't seem like it was a total exercise in stupidity. Well, ok, Duh-bya was about as dumb as the Presidential candidates had gotten.
But now Trump. Now we can quantify it a little better. It looks like upwards of 35% of American voters are thick as a brick. Ok, they're racists too, but to swallow what Trump is feeding them, you have to be missing a few tools in the toolbox.
That is still MILLIONS of people. (sigh)

(17,505 posts)I was having an argument on FaceBook about "what the Bible says about abortion".... I said "Who cares? They didn't know anything about fetal development back then." to which several people replied along the lines that knowing it took a man's semen in a woman was the same as what we know today!!!!!!
I pointed out that Ancient Greeks thought the man implanted the baby into the woman, who was just a receptacle and incubator and nurse. The Ancient Romans were a little better. They thought both men and women produced sperm that mixed in the womb. If both parents had "strong" sperm, you got a boy. If both had "weak" sperm, you got a girl. If it was mixed, the "stronger" parent prevailed.
These FaceBook Bible apologists think this is the same thing as knowing about zygotes and blastocysts!!!!!!

(63,198 posts)that make no sense showing up a RW gatherings all the time, I took it to be a straight forward sign.
Yeah - I think there probably are people who would rather have lost WWII than to have had a gay person as a major hero.

(17,505 posts)I've been saying this same thing for years and years now!
Not to mention that drugs and electricity and lots of other stuff these folks use without thinking can actually KILL you...if science hadn't made it as unlikely as possible. They friggin' trust their lives to science....
But climate change is a big conspiracy....
