Atheists & Agnostics
Related: About this forumWhere do you make your friends?
Many non atheists make many friends at churches. What are your alternatives for coming into regular contact with people that might lead to friendships, or at least acquaintances? I mean besides work.

(60,497 posts)my books, and the speaking engagements, as well as plant sales, led (and continue to lead) to many delightful acquaintances - but I am not one to want many close (frequent contact) friends...I am one of those odd balls that can't get enough of their spouse (and thankfully, vice versa!)

Also lucky to have a dear friend since 5th grade. Were talking over 50 years.
Met a dear friend when I took some computer classes at the Extension. She was the teacher. Ha. Said my Power Point presentation was one of the best ever. Who wouldnt love her?
Also have a neighbor good friend who joins everything. Shes in the Quilters Guild, Homemaker club, Library Board, Chairman of the Barn Quilt Committee, Thyme Savers (garden club). She collects old sewing machines, fabrics and other sewing related items to send to women in Nicaragua. She cuts hair at the nursing home.
She sets quite an example.
Hope you find what you need. In the words of some great prophets, The love you take is equal to the love you make.
Good luck
Blessed with friends.

(2,428 posts)Joined a few years back and these folks have become my very dearest friends. We party, go to debates, plays, etc. Had a crazy Festivus this year. We Have "Deep Dive" discussions on serious subjects. Have our own podcast now. And a book club. If you don't have a meet-up group in your area, start one! Search meet-ups for atheists/agnostics/secular, etc. You won't be sorry!
