Catholics removing holy water from churches out of virus fears

Gee, they don't think that Holy Water will protect parishioners from evil any longer? Maybe they will do away with the stupid, superstitious and grossly ineffective practice. Maybe they will quit selling Holy Water for profit. Maybe they will realize their whole lives are based on a joke.

Oh, wait, they already know all that.

One good line from the story on Patheos: At least they’re listening to scientists on this one instead of just praying for immunity.

It still holds to some beliefs and rites related to the soul.

Removing holy water from the open fonts has been done before. Bottled holy water is perfectly fine, and some parishes can be creative about it.

Common sense is allowed in the Catholic church, but it may need the bishop's approval.

guess that's why they're still doing exorcisms and condoning pedophilia.

Their purview has shrunk considerably, and about all they have left to make us worry about is the "soul".

to go from threatening Galileo with execution for saying the Sun didn't revolve around the Earth to acknowledging that stagnant water may be a nice way to grow germs and viruses.
Very commendable.
