My family celebrates Easter *RELIGIOUSLY* (in every sense of that word.)

(being pretty much agnostic,) I try to get the hell out of town any way I can. Never seems to work, so I have to suffer through all the religious nuttery. This year it's just mom and me--medical issues keeping the others away--but as the chief religious nut, she'll make it hell for me. This year I can't get away because of her medical issues, and my own--still nursing the broken leg.

It's the holiday I most hate. Open to suggestions, discussion....

her ability to make things hell is going to be sharply curtailed because most priests are sensible sorts who have pretty much closed up shop for a few weeks.

And if she tries weaponizing religion, "careful, Ma, I might hit you with my cast" is always a good threat.

I just made Smiley faces and wrote "eat me" on the real Communion Wafers that I bought on-line a few years ago. Is that sacrilege? I put some into the mini Easter baskets that I put together for my mom and my sister today (we are former Catholics...now atheists like most of the former Catholics that I have known in my adult life) and I think that will make them smile. We celebrate the holidays just to have the family together, share good food, etc. This year we are exchanging baskets and food in my apt parking lot..fun, fun.
