Utah Governor Declares Weekend Of Prayer For Rain
Salt Lake Citys NBC News affiliate reports:
With hot, dry weather in the immediate and long-term forecasts, (Republican) Gov. Spencer Cox on Thursday called on Utahns to pray for rain this weekend as Utahs drought conditions continue to worsen.
In a pre-recorded video, the governor called on Utahns of all faiths to join him in a weekend of humble prayer from Friday through Sunday.
We need more rain and we need it now, he said. We need some divine intervention.
By praying collaboratively and collectively, asking God or whatever higher power you believe in for more rain, we may be able to escape the deadliest aspects of the continuing drought.

How about piping some water in from the east coast, where they have had much more rainfall than needed? Why is that so hard? We have a million miles of pipelines going every whichaway in this country.

(33,643 posts)The worst thing is ... a great many religious people meet a lot of the definitions of the word insane.

(9,649 posts)and it can't help the chances for rain either
It sends a subtle pro-religious message which does no one, except those who profit from believers, any good
And all it takes is one coincidence (rain comes after some big group prayer) to reinforce the bullshit
I know, I know
