at the confirmation bias and sheer lunacy coming from the "faithful" over the tornado tragedies? I just heart a pastor whose church was totally demolished say, in all seriousness, "God is in control."

(10,279 posts)A survivor claimed she survived because god was watching out for her. I guess he was too busy to watch out for those who lost their lives.

(11,881 posts)According to Alex Jones it is Biden who is in control by geo-engineering the tornados. How do they worship a god that destroys so many lives? Religion is a sickness.

(24,739 posts)I have seen numerous interviews with Kentucky citizens standing in fron of a pile of rubble that was their house saying they are "blessed" and "God is good" because he saved them. That's some control they have over people when you can make them think that losing everything is a blessing.
It's like George Carlin used to say, the greatest salesmen in the world, people that sell millions of dollars worth of goods, people who close international deals worth billions of dollars, are in awe of the Clergy.

Many years ago there was an horrific airplane crash in Michigan. Everyone dead, until they found an infant who had been thrown from the plane still strapped in the child seat and practically unharmed.
The verdict: How could anyone argue that the childs survival didnt prove that there was a god?

We had a discussion on this.
God knows all - past, present, and the future.
God has the power to change whatever he wants.
Whatever evil/bad happens has been approved by God.
IF you believe in an all-powerful God.

Judas was an early, modern-day, conservative disciple.
Judas got 30 pieces of silver, but just once, for selling Christ.
Franklin Graham, Jim Bakker, Pat Robertson, and their ilk get millions of dollars repeatedly for selling Christ.
Judas was a fool for doing a one-time sale.

(39,829 posts)Descartes proved with logic that God exists. The church rejected that because it negated the need for faith.

as someone earlier in this thread said, THAT is some kind of control right there.
