Atheists & Agnostics

(17,757 posts)I was raised by Christian parents, who had Christian parents, all of the people who surrounded me were Christians, I was Baptized in a Southern protestant religion, I was forced to go to Sunday School every week, but I never really "believed." It just made no sense to me, even as a child. I left religion behind long before high school and have not suffered a bit from the abandonment, and I believe that it has made me a better man. I am not forgiven for my sins against my fellow men, so, in order to live with myself, I have to pay attention to the pain that I may cause others. I have plenty of anxiety, guilt and fear to satisfy my needs without religion.
I have accepted that I just have one go-round, that that death is the natural order of things. I don't fear death so I do not need the promise of "everlasting life." I do not desire immortality, even in paradise.

(1,972 posts)Agnostics are just a bunch of sniveling cowards.
First they came for the Christians, and I was not Christian, so I did not speak out.
Then they came for the agnostics, but I was not an agnostic, so I did not speak out.
When they came for the atheists, there was nobody left to speak out.
