Is Karl Rove an atheist?

In an interview with Christopher Hitchens in NY Magazine we learn that Karl Rove doesn't believe in God and get some perspective on what George Bush might think of that:

He believes religion is necessary and good for other people less intelligent than he is. From the link:

"Religion was necessary to control people. He wasn't religious himself, he simply considered it necessary."

Necessary for others so he can control them.

Don't do as I do, do as I say.

But there are a lot of awful religious people, no surprise there are some awful atheist too.

I would like to convert everyone to atheism just for the opposite reasons. Maybe it would make the common people loud and angry. The filthy rich should be afraid of the poor. There are so many more of them than there are the rich.
