The Eclipse Conspiracy (something doesnt add up)

The scientists are all talking like it’s a sure thing.

On August 21, the “moon” will pass between the Earth and the sun, obscuring the light of the latter. The government agency NASA says this will result in “one of nature’s most awe-inspiring sights.” The astronomers there claim to have calculated down to the minute exactly when and where this will happen, and for how long. They have reportedly known about this eclipse for years, just by virtue of some sort of complex math.

This seems extremely unlikely. I can’t even find these eclipse calculations on their website to check them for myself.

Meanwhile the scientists tell us we can’t look at it without special glasses because “looking directly at the sun is unsafe.” That is, of course, unless we wear glasses that are on a list issued by these very same scientists. Meanwhile, corporations like Amazon are profiting from the sale of these eclipse glasses. Is anyone asking how many of these astronomers also, conveniently, belong to Amazon Prime?

Let’s follow the money a little further. Hotels along the “path of totality”—a region drawn up by Obama-era NASA scientists—have been sold out for months. Some of those hotels are owned and operated by large multinational corporations. Where else do these hotels have locations? You guessed it: Washington, D.C.

...

I am not saying the eclipse isn’t going to happen. I’m just saying there are two sides to every story.

They used to tell us to look through a couple of layers of exposed film in the 50s and 60s. I knew the pinhole trick so I didn't do that.

All these cretins need are two sheets of paper and something to poke a pinhole in one of them. If they weren't so fucking ignorant maybe they'd read about how to view an eclipse and realize that and skip the whole conspiracy to sell them expensive glasses they could only use once.

Stupidity is its own reward. I'm sure there will be some seriously burnt retinas after this eclipse out in Dumbass Land.

I didn't know for sure it was satire until I saw it was from The Atlantic.

Strange days indeed.

We can see the Moon being obscured by the shadow of the Earth. Why is that shadow a disc?

I think some of the flat-Earthers switched from a square, flat Earth (maybe with an elephant at each corner) to a flat, disc-shaped earth, like a CD.

He would issue an executive order postponing the eclipse until the weekend so more of the people who have to work could see it.

For him. Although he would do such a lousy weak, limp dick job of it that nobody would remember. Sad!

Trump was born during an eclipse so the effect on him is much stronger. In addition, he also has Leo rising in Uranus.

Newsweek notes that Astrologer Marjorie Orr pointed out last November, right after Trump was elected, that the upcoming solar eclipse is part of a group of celestial events referred to as the Saros series.

According to Orr, the Saros series has included eclipses in 1909, 1927, 1945, 1963, 1981 and 1999 -- all years which coincide with major political events, including President Bill Clinton's impeachment, the attempted assassination of President Ronald Reagan, the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's death and the attempted assassination of President William Taft.

So, will August 21 bring with it an event of this caliber?
