Somebody tell the radio-causes-cancer nuts some basic physics.
Good lord, radio wave photons are the least energetic photons there are, visible light is much more energetic, and yet these nuts seriously think that radio waves damage DNA???

(53,521 posts)People conflate "radiation" with "radioactivity". Even though shooting X-rays at food does not make it radioactive people still think it's dangerous, it's sure much healthier than using ammonia to turn the meat into Punk Slime!

(14,860 posts)Most beef is treated with carbon monoxide to keep it that lovely shade of red and humans evolved to eat and digest all manner of non-nutritious garbage that just filled the stomach between meals that had nutritious content. Ammonia is widely used in the food and drink industry and, like many other compounds, is safe at low levels.
While I'd prefer to not eat something made from "pink slime," since that it's apparently no less safe than eating high-fat beef, I don't think it's necessary to freak out about it.

(14,860 posts)Apparently, GMOs are responsible for the obesity "epidemic" because BT corn hasn't gone through extensive safety testing.

(53,521 posts)...of GMOs to help them sell more RoundUp rather than just engineering the plants to be more resistant to pests, not for GMOs themselves! That Glyphosate in RoundUp is nasty and I've read that some studies correlate it's use with lower IQs and higher rates of ADHD among people in the rural areas where it is used (so THAT'S the matter with Kansas!).
Funy that Glyphosate is never mentioned by the anti-GMO nuts...
