Ernesto is a real thing and about to nail Puerto Rico. Looking at the satellite images I noticed an odd phenomenon occurring along the outer band (SE to NE) where all along the band an explosion of circular "events" take place almost all at once. I have never seen a sequence of rings like a line of tornadoes, or the opposite, set off all at once, very unusual.

(17,905 posts)The first thing that came to my mind when I looked at the image was a Mendelbrot Set because of how, in that image, Ernesto seems to be spawning smaller Ernestos all around it...
