Fall arrived this morning in the lower Great Lakes

Fall is my favorite time of year but that 1st sub 40 degree morning of the season is always a bit of a shock to the system especially when it was mid 80s a couple days ago. Just something about cold fall mornings, they feel crisp and clean

that had been held every October for 40+ years. This morning it's 45F. Maybe I can finally take the air conditioner out of the window...

Having grown up in Chicago, I must say this was a shock to me.

we often played outside in subzero temperatures. "There is no bad weather, only bad clothing."

It was in the 80s a couple days ago and felt like summer

This morning was in the 40s. Very early in the morning. Only getting into the 50s today, they say.

It’s sunny and brisk now as I write this around noon. I did some errands earlier this morning and thought it was nice. All I needed extra was a flannel shirt. Typical fall weather. Mr. Diamond however has been complaining it’s too cold.

I'm done sweating. Some trees are starting to get a little bit of color to them (although this year, its been so dry, we probably won't get much.) The woods smell wonderful--damp and earthy.

I need to touch up the paint on the wood stove.
