Can't believe it's been two years already, it seems like it was just yesterday.
The one good thing is that by leaving when she did is that she didn't see the day when that tapeworm would be in the White House.

(34,943 posts)i know they are for me. i hope you're doing okay tonight (and yesterday and will be doing okay tomorrow as well)
i've posted in this neck of the woods for a number of years now, mostly about my mom who passed in october 2009.
what i found to be almost as difficult as trump being sworn in last friday was the idea that it was the end of the obama era that my mom had been here to see, to witness, to be a part of, to be so happy aboutm, to be so proud of. it was the end of the last political era of her life. and that weird, crazy thought just came crashing in on me like a ton of bricks last friday.
i absolutely understand what you mean by the one good thing. i've thought "if my mother wasn't already dead, seeing trump as president would kill her!"
but, truth be told, i believe she is fully aware of what is going on but has more of a detachment to these events than i do.

(5,878 posts)47of74 I've clicked back a page or two reading your posts in this group and feel I know the sadness you feel. Next week will be the first anniversary of my sister-in-law passing. Preceding twelve months included anniversaries of two close friends my Dad, Step-dad, Mom, and wife. Mom's last sibling brother died in October. Medicare and ACA worked for those covered. I was able to be home with my wife when she needed me thanks to ACA. Financial ruin for the others. How do we cast off the darkness in America that keeps people from seeing the good in the ACA and embracing the BS Trump sells. Reading your posts in DU and attending the Women's march in Des Moines last weekend give me hope for the future.
