(12,199 posts)Either there was a problem with your husbands DD214, or your funeral home bought you a china made flag.

(21,068 posts)He received a commendation from JFK for having to serve an extra 6 months for the time he signed up for!
There was absolutely NO PROBLEM WITH HIS DD-214!
As for the funeral home, they suck!

(15,314 posts)to the funeral to drape the flag on his casket and then fold it and present it to my Mom at the end to take home with her that day. There was a plastic case, but I later purchased a wood and glass triangular frame online.
It is sad enough to lose a loved one, and feeling that he, and you, are being disrespected makes it worse. Shame on the funeral home.

(21,068 posts)He arrived to the USA from Ireland and enlisted in the war.
He did that to show his allegiance to the flag and to The United States of America!
The flag was from the funeral home, not the VA.
So sad I am.
When will this every get any better at all?
I keep thinking I hear him in the house.
I hear him talking.
I hear his Irish brogue.
He is still here is seems to me.
Does this every go away?
His cat still cries every night at 2:30 a.m. sharp. He adopted his cat from the kill shelter nine years ago.
That cat cries, I cry and even the American Flag cries!

(21,068 posts)We pre-arranged our wishes after my father died in the late 1990s. Dad's case was a nightmare as my mother didn't know what to do with him after he passed. So, hey, there is a dead body here and what do we do with it? I don't know was her reply. YIKES!
Hence, we pre-arranged at that time, paid-in full. The funeral home attempted to not honor the contract and I had to get an attorney involved to have his wishes honored.
Yes, it was that bad!
SHAME ON THEM.
SHAME ON ALL OF THOSE THAT FAILED TO CARE FOR MY HUSBAND and that includes the VA!
And YES that includes YOU Hospiss, as you Hospiss knew how sick he was in Feb. and you walked away telling us that he was going to be around for a long time.
Dead in May, three months later!

(31,436 posts)Your husband deserved care, not walking away.
I have seen too much of that lately.

(21,068 posts)Idiot relative wanted to know if I'd "healed yet"?
Yeah right.
Everyone walked away.
He was old and not worth it any more.
Even the cat still cries every night. It starts at 2:30 a.m. and goes on for hrs. The other night he was in his room and literally having a meltdown in there.
The cries and squeaky meows ... on an on they go for over 4 mos. now.
I am some how a part of this insane reality.

(21,068 posts)Asking the same thing again.
However, his poor poor sister (her mother) has a pimple on her nose! It might be cancerous, they don't know yet! Oh my ...
I have not replied to this note/letter, whatever it is!
Damned piggish idiots!
How much do I dislike them?
HOW MUCH?

(27,904 posts)while an infection in her leg healed,
Instead, they stopped her antibiotics, and all her other meds. They started her on morphine and that was it, we never got another coherent word out of her. She was fine when she left the hospital.
I'm starting to think "hospice" = "death factory"

(21,068 posts)I never had the chance to find out.
I didn't know the cause of death until I received his death certificate in the mail!
So very sorry to read about this awful loss!
AWFUL!
DEATH FACTORY indeed = HOSPISS!!!!!

(21,068 posts)I never got another flag.
What I did receive was a big letter from Pres. Biden. It was a thank you for your service letter and with it came a certificate that had what was supposed to be his name on it.
His first name was William. The certificate said on it Williams.
As for my cat, he has settled in nicely since I was told to buy yet another new bed. So I did just that.
The new bed is solving my pain issues to a point (I no longer wake up, unable to get out of bed and take medication the minute I got up!).
So, I like the new bed just fine and so do my three cats!
I wake-up surrounded by them and the crying, grieving cat no longer does the 2:30 a.m. thing luckily!
As for me, I range from wanting to move away one day and hating where I live and I hate living in poverty being he left me nothing. He could never find a decent job and his SS was less than mine which is a JOKE. Anyway, I get nothing out of a 44-year relationship that I was the one that did everything for the most part from working to cleaning to keeping the bills up-to-date.
I'm tired and sick.
I hope I do not live very long as I cannot afford to do that.
