Bereavement
Related: About this forumDoes anyone else call your friend's phone?
Scott and I dated on and off for 5 years. He passed away when we were apart. I am pretty much a mess. Every now and then I call or text his phone number just to hear his voice and to say I'm sorry. Does anyone else do this?

There is no defined timeline for this stuff. Sorry for your loss. Be well.
I have an Easter message from my sister, at the time I found it somewhat annoying, but Ive kept it. I listen to it now and hear the hesitation- Im sorry for that. I listen to it now and then. I miss her.

(10,887 posts)I saved a voicemail from a dear friend who died earlier this year. I listen to it when I'm missing her. I saved it to several different devices.
And I took a picture of the caller ID on the last phone call I got from another friend who passed away a few years ago that I look at it from time to time.
So I can totally understand your calling your friend's phone. Things like this are like link to our loved ones.

(33,538 posts)I still have three voice messages on my phone. One from election night 2008.
I love hearing his voice.
two great friends passed years ago. I will never get rid of their numbers or their texts on my phone. It somehow helps. And fortunately for me, many pictures involved.

(10,026 posts)My husband has cancer. I can't bear to erase any of his sweet voicemails. My dad died 3 years ago. I can't erase the voicemails from him.
I did have to go through & erase my least fave ones from my husband so I could have some room in the box. It took me hours to decide which ones to let go.
I see nothing odd in you calling or texting your deceased friend. Heartfelt condolences for your loss. 😢
