I'm by myself this morning. I've had my coffee.
I'm baking cookies for my neighbors and ziti for a classmate who just lost his wife three days ago.
I don't need anything else.
Enjoy your day.

You also have a peaceful day. I dont want to hear a peep from the orange man all day.

(17,689 posts)A friend hosts Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner for all us singles or couples. Christmas dinner is Italian themed this year. He's supplying hot Italian sausage and everybody is bring sides. I'm making vegetable risotto for the first time. Keeping my fingers crossed it turns out well.

(48,936 posts)1. Keep the liquid/broth at a low boil.
2. Ladle in 1/2 cup of hot liquid/broth at a time and stir until totally incorporated before adding a new 1/2 cup.
3. This is labor intensive insofar as you can't walk away from the stove. Be prepared to stir 20-30 minutes.
4. Buon'appetito!

(1,094 posts)My first Christmas as an empty nester! My kids are with the families of their significant others....we celebrated all day yesterday with great food and thoughtful gifts. I'm planning to read and relax! (and probably eat those delicious leftovers!)

(8,636 posts)It's lovely that you are baking for others. Must be very rough for that classmate.
And hey, if you've got DU, you're never alone.

(48,936 posts)We went back as far as Kindergarten and she literally grew up one block away from my family.
She and Joe were together since 1969 (sixth grade), so this has to be tough on him.

Have a wonderful holiday, knowing that.
