Happy Thanksgiving Loners

To those of you spending the day with family or friends, I hope it's full of laughter and smiles. (We'll hold down the fort while you're out)

If you are spending the holiday alone, I wish you a day full of contentment and peace. (Turkey served in the loners' lounge tmrw at 5)

Have a wonderful day and cheers to all our Loner friends.

on thanksgiving.
It gives their usual people a day off to spend with their families.
It makes me feel useful rather than just going on a feeding frenzy.

I also volunteer there during the year putting together the meals for delivery.
Also did kitchen duty a couple of times - I no longer want to see a rutabaga for dicing.

I don’t like any traditional Tday foods. I will talk to family on the phone and laze around watching movies in my jammies all day. I feel like I’ve earned it. The last few months at work have just about killed me!

Are you planning to dine on anything special?

Lots of foul language, politics, and religious arguments. I'm thankful for my dysfunctional little family.

I'm also thankful for the weed and wine that will get me through it...

Cheers my dear!

Hotel staff gave me a piece of pecan pie with a holiday card! That’s as festive as it will be for me!
Best wishes.

7. Hi new loner friends,

and thanks for this thread BTB.

I've been fully embracing my loner-ness for perhaps the 1st time ever in my 65 years of life - with the affirming and welcome support of this group!

I am still torn with whether or not this is healthy or sustainable going forward into my golden years...from all I read about it...

I have been experimenting with full embrace of the loner lifestyle for about a month. We turned down a couple invites for tomorrow, which has been awkward (loners seem to be out of the mainstream, especially on Thanksgiving - alot of social pressure.) All I can say is this period has felt really good. I am moving at my own pace and on my own timeframe. It feels right to me, right now.

My husband and I will spend tomorrow just the two of us cooking, playing outside with our dog and horses, sitting by the fire, taking a long walk. Totally indulgent!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Moving at your own pace is a good thing. I was writing in my journal today and "live slow, die fast" is my new slogan

Cheers to you cilla!

My man owns a tavern. Cooking turkey, stuffing, mp, gravy, egg noodles and pecan pie. Another patron is bringing pumpkin pie and the cranberry sauce. We get several men every year and some donate money. This year donations will go to the local dog shelter to buy them some food.

We will go to dinner at his family’s then go back to the bar to clean up the leftovers and have a hot buttered rum.

Happy Thanksgiving

A walk on the beach is definitely something to be grateful for. You need to get a pair of those flip flips that leave impeach trump imprints!

Had planned to have a small (5 of us) dinner with friends that we normally only see on Thanksgiving and maybe one other time during the year. So I really look forward to seeing them. Unfortunately my husband felt under the weather and didn't want to go, but said I should still attend. So I did and it was nice to catch up.

But, something there had me laughing to myself. Apparently the hosts had asked one of their neighbors who's wife is out of the country, to join us for dinner. He had said he would come when first asked but later said he didn't think he would make it. My friends called and texted him at least 3 times that I know of, to see if he was going to come. He didn't respond to their contacts. Friends were just gobsmacked that the guy would want to be home by himself and not join us. I finally said 'Maybe he's just an introvert and is happy to be home enjoying a quiet day. I might do the same if it was something I didn't want to attend'. They just didn't get it.
