Loners

A few years ago, I came back to the "outside" world and landed in the Loners Group of DU. You strange, silly weirdos accepted me into your worlds, and in turn I've shared the oddities of mine.
Since my return to the electronic world, Ive been working to not resent forced human interaction in the real world.
I still stutter, but it's better now that I dont care if Im laughed at. Wanda Sykes summed it up perfectly when she described her "give a f54k" routine on "Sick and Tired"
(Youtube it, its funny)
I've been pushing myself to do things that have immediate impact on my community and a minimal risk of incarceration.
I've been to church and volunteered to help the local Art Center in town. I sat at the same table with the local MAGA hats at the local diner last week. I'm "little Pelosi" to these old farts. I like the nickname and hope it sticks.
It's hard to interact in the real world. I dont want to be offensive, and yet my soul burns to spread truth and goodwill in my community.
Here's a poem I wrote that Im going to read at the Art Center soon if I dont flake out.

(13,258 posts)As Im a huge Mr Robot fan, I couldnt help but think of Elliott.
Im probably quite the opposite since Im a bit of an extrovert in my nature, but like you,I have to push myself into situations that arent at my comfort level. Sometimes Im the person who wears the lampshade at the party, other times I desperately wish to just blend in with the wallpaper.
But we work at it, I think, because a moment of true interaction with another human is priceless.
